He was born in 1932 June, 20th in Seoul, Korea. and died on January 29, 2006.
In his earlier days, he studied art history and music history in Tokyo University in Japan. During 1956 to 1958, he studied music history in Munich University in Western Germany. These learnings of his, and un-traditional way of thinking heavily effected creative composition and his art activities. For his famous work, "Dadaiksun", a media tower made by piling monitor one above another for 1988 Seoul Olympic Games.
He opened the retrospective in Guggenheim museum in 2000.
Although he departed from life in Jan, 29th, 2006, his name was on the list of world's 100 artists.
Especially, his famous work is 'Dadaiksun'.
'Dadaiksun' is a media tower made by piling monitor one above another for 1988 Seoul Olympic Games.
This work is composed with more than thousand TV moniters, decreasing gradually by one and one floor. 'Dadaiksun' named after the old saying with the same pronounsation which means 'The more, the better'.
However, the work(Dadaiksun) means not the many of objects but the limitless of the reception of TV.
It metaphorically gives the explanation of theory of composition of today's mass-commucication.
